The white potatoes don’t need to be orange or in other words the sweet potato to be healthy. Potatoes of all varieties are among the best foods we can eat. Among other foods, white potatoes are an energizing, and healthy source of complex carbohydrates – making them, although many people are under the false belief, a great choice for the weight conscious. I mean, when you look at a potato, it isn’t all that fattening.
What makes it so fattening is all of the butter, sour cream, bacon bits and cheese that you heap on to the potato. A large baked potato can also provide around 25 percent of the recommended daily allowance for vitamin C; nearly 50% more potassium than a banana; has a good amounts of fiber; and B vitamins, especially vitamin B6. I recently learned that potatoes are very helpful when it comes to curing stomach ulcers and helping with inflamed conditions of the colon. They are also beneficial for people experiencing hemorrhoids because they have high fiber content. So, the next time you have dinner, don’t pass up the potato. Just be careful to add so much of the butter and sour cream.
