The benefits to eating more raw foods is staggering. Raw food diets have been known to help people detox, lose weight and cure diseases. I have read many articles that showed how people with diabetes were able to get their disease under control by switching to a raw food diet. When we cook our food, the majority of the vitamins, minerals, and nutrients are cooked out of it. A great way to maintain the vegetables nutrients is by juicing. Every day I have a juice drink made out of kale, collard greens, carrots, ginger, apples, and beet greens.
I have a garden where I grow all of these vegetables so they are fresh and alive. When we buy produce from the grocery stores we are buying food that has been sitting on a truck, in a warehouse, and then in the store. The longer the vegetables sit out, the less nutritious they become. If you just can’t grow your own garden, then buy frozen vegetables. They are flash freezed soon after they are picked which locks in the vitamins and minerals. Try and buy your fruits and vegetables from freshly grown, organic farmer’s markets before you buy from large grocery stores.
